Who We Are

This policy explains what information 2DEGREES collects when you use this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. Throughout this policy, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to 2DEGREES.

2DEGREES is a brand operated by Realize Creative.

We run invite-based events in New York City. Our services are for people 21 years of age and older.

Information We Collect

We collect the following directly from you when you apply for an invite, create an account, or buy a ticket:

  • Your name. First and last name, from the invite application.
  • Your date of birth. We use this to confirm you are 21 or older.
  • Your email address.
  • Your mobile phone number. Used to sign you in to your account, and to text you if you opted in to receive messages.
  • Your Instagram handle.
  • Your gender. Collected on the application.
  • Your application answers. Anything else you write on the invite form, including how you heard about us, who referred you, and which event you are applying for.
  • Your marketing preferences. Whether you opted in to email or text messages, and when.

We also collect some information automatically when you visit the site: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the actions you take on the site. Some visits are recorded as a session replay, which reconstructs what you saw and did on the page. See the Cookies and Tracking section below.

Payment information. When you buy a ticket, your payment is processed by Stripe. Your card number is entered on Stripe’s checkout page and sent directly to Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. We receive a record of the transaction from Stripe, which includes the amount, what you bought, the last four digits of the card, and the billing name and email you gave them.

How We Use Your Information

  • To review your invite application and decide on it.
  • To create and secure your account, and to sign you in.
  • To confirm you are 21 or older.
  • To sell you a ticket and get you into the event.
  • To contact you about your application, your ticket, or an event you are attending.
  • To send you marketing emails or texts, but only if you opted in to those.
  • To plan our events and understand which events and channels work.
  • To keep the site working, fix errors, and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We process this information because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for, because you gave us consent (marketing emails and texts), because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our events, or because the law requires it.

Mobile Information and Text Messaging

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

When you opt in to receive text messages from 2DEGREES, we collect your mobile phone number and a timestamped record of your consent. We use this information solely to send you the messages described at the time of opt-in: occasional announcements about upcoming events and promotional offers such as first-time-guest discounts. Separately, and whether or not you opt in, our SMS program covers account messages such as one-time login codes and notifications about the status of your invite application.

Message frequency for promotional messages varies and is approximately 2–4 messages per month. Account messages are sent as you use the Service and are not included in that number. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, after which you will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts. Reply HELP to any message, or email patrick@2degreesnyc.com, for assistance.

We share mobile information only with the service providers that deliver our messages on our behalf (such as our SMS provider), and only to the extent necessary to deliver those messages. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise transfer mobile information or consent records to any third party.

Our SMS program page describes both kinds of message in full and shows the exact screens where we collect your number and your promotional consent.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the site work, and only as far as each one needs:

  • Supabase hosts our database and handles account sign-in.
  • Stripe processes payments and handles your card details.
  • Twilio delivers our account text messages, beginning with the one-time login codes we send when you sign in.
  • Klaviyo delivers our promotional text messages and marketing email.
  • Vercel hosts the website.
  • Meta receives advertising and conversion data. See below.
  • Mixpanel, PostHog, Google Analytics, and Sentry receive site usage and error data. See below.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our terms, to protect the safety of our guests or staff, or as part of a merger or sale of the business.

Sharing with Meta. We send Meta information about actions you take on our site, such as viewing an event or completing a purchase, so we can measure and target our advertising. This happens two ways: through the Meta pixel running in your browser, and through a direct server-to-server connection from us to Meta. The server-to-server connection may include your email address, phone number, name, date of birth, and gender. These are hashed before they are sent, meaning they are converted into a scrambled value rather than sent in the clear. We also send your IP address and browser user agent, which are not hashed. You can limit this in your Meta account settings, and you can block the browser pixel with the cookie controls described below.

As stated above, none of this sharing includes text-messaging opt-in data or consent records.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences, and to understand how the site is used. These are the tools we run:

  • Supabase Auth sets the cookie that keeps you signed in. The site does not work without it.
  • Meta pixel tracks visits and purchases for advertising, and sets the _fbp and _fbc cookies.
  • Mixpanel records which pages you view and which buttons you press, tied to your account if you are signed in.
  • PostHog records product analytics for the same purpose.
  • Google Analytics reports aggregate traffic and audience data.
  • Sentry captures errors so we can fix them. Error reports can include the page you were on and what you were doing when it broke. Sentry also records a replay of the session, which reconstructs the pages you saw and the actions you took. We record every session in which an error occurs, and a small sample (approximately 1 in 10) of all other sessions.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers let you refuse third-party cookies specifically. Blocking the sign-in cookie will stop you from being able to use your account. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals.

How Long We Keep It

We keep your account information, application answers, and ticket history for as long as we operate, unless you ask us to delete them. We do not currently delete this information automatically, and we have no set expiry date for it.

If you ask us to delete your information, we will. Two things we keep even then: records we need for tax and accounting, and a record that you opted out of text messages, so that we do not text you again by mistake. Analytics and error data held by the providers listed above ages out on each provider’s own schedule, which we do not control.

Your Rights

Email us at patrick@2degreesnyc.com and we will help you with any of the following:

  • Get a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your account and your information, subject to the records we are required to keep.
  • Stop marketing emails, by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us.
  • Stop text messages, by replying STOP to any message from us.

We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR. Write to us and we will honor them.

Children

Our events and this website are for people 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete it. If you believe a minor has given us information, email us at patrick@2degreesnyc.com.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls on our systems, and payment handling through Stripe so card numbers never touch our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will tell you by email or on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
